NAAME organizes adventure camp to Mt. Saramati

Nagaland Association for Adventure Mountaineering and Education (NAAME) on the theme “Save Our Mountains” organized an adventure camp cum trekking for 25 participants and reached the state highest peak Mt. Saramati (Sa-a mati) a local Chir Dialet name Marankhong (Fire Mountain) on November 28.

With support from Ibohanbi Singh zonal director NYKS, Nagaland Zone, the programme was sponsored by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Govt. of India.

The programme was flagged off at Kohima on November 26 by Himato Zhimomi IFS, commissioner and secretary, tourism, government of Nagaland.

The team halted at Kiphire where Kesonyü Yhome IAS, DC hosted a breakfast and from there the participant proceeded to Saramati and important potentials of Kiphire district in related fields.

The team set a record of trekking by reaching the base camp from Thanamer village ground in 200minutes (3hrs.20Mts) and base-camp to the peak in 100mts (1.40Mts).

Further, the association had a meeting with the Thanamer village elders, Students, Youths and had consented to Net-work for promotion of trekking to Mt. Saramati.

 The team also organized tent pitching technique, rappelling, river crossing across Tizü River between Meluri and Pfütsero.
