1st golden racket in Zunheboto concludes

The first edition of the Celestial Sports Academy “Golden Racket” Nagaland open men’s doubles Championship 2012’ held on the theme, “peace and equality” concluded here on December8.

The 2-day-long event was held at the District Sports Council Indoor Stadium with 20 participants from; Dimapur, Kohima, Mokukchung, Phek, Tuensang and Zunheboto. The maiden “Golden Racket” Championship title was won by Raju and Tajen by defeating Ankur Sanpang Rai and Along Jamir in the nerve breaking grand finale match. The winners pocketed with a cash prize of Rs. 20000 while the runners-up pocketed Rs. 15000.

In the 3rd place play-off, Inato Zhimo and Bokato Sumi defeated Tokishe Sumi and Nitoshe Sumi and received Rs.10,000.
The “most promising player” went to Pfuchelo Mero from Phek district.

The closing ceremony and prize distributing ceremony was graced by the officer of the 21st Bn Assam Rifles.
Earlier, the inaugural function was graced by parliamentary secretary Dr.K.C. Nihoshe as the chief guest.
