MVC memorial football tourney

Twenty four teams are taking participating in the 3rd edition of Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC memorial football tournament, which kick started at Kohima local ground on Wednesday. 
Teams were two from all districts and one from Longleng district alongwith teams of Assam Rifles, 164 NAGA (TA) Bn and DGP team. In the opening match defending champions Naga FC beat Naomei FC by solitary goal at local ground Kohima. The goal was scored by Khwetelhi Thopi. Earlier, the opening ceremony was graced Nagaland DGP LL Doungel, Maj Gen Sanjay Gupta, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) as the Chief Guest alongwith the proud Parents and family members of ‘Capt N Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous)’.
Speaking on the occasion, Neiselie Kenguruse father of late Capt N Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous) lauded the efforts of Assam Rifles to promote football “which was endearing to the brave martyr and also remind the youth of the supreme sacrifice made by the Son of Nagaland”.   
It was followed by introduction of the team captains and unveiling of the trophies. The champions will receive a running trophy along with prizes worth Rs. 1,70,000, runner up with trophy with prize worth Rs. 80,000. In addition there will be also individual’s awards such as golden boot, best custodian, best player of the tournament & best officials. Highlights of the opening ceremony included pipe band display by Assam Rifles.

Surayin FC V/s Green Club, 9:30 am 
Laimcishm FC v/c Zisaji XI Club, 12 noon
Nine Zone Peren V/s Friends United FC, 2:30 pm
