Inching closer to the first Nagaland Premier League (NPL) kick off at Kohima, Mokokchung and Dimapur, the NPL team is here to tell a different story.

Stories told and created, football is much more than what we see. You might raise your eyebrows watching their skills, applaud when they score a goal but there lies a story behind those skills and goals.

Nagaland Premier League (NPL) is proud to tell the story of 19 year old Mesechulo Mero from Lekromi Village of Pfutsero district.
Born into a family of 8 and the second youngest in the family this boy grew up watching football on television and that is when he began to fancy the game and played at his local village ground till Nagaland Premier League (NPL)/Naga Tornadoes happened to him.

When he learned about a football summer camp for players in Dimapur, this 19 year old footballer longed to play professionally for a club and how we talk about dream chasers, Mesechulo made it happen.

With his sheer passion for the wonderful game called football he is now officially signed by Naga Tornadoes FC and doubted to be the surprise package in a team of hopefuls packed with young talents.

Easy as it may seem, it was not a very smooth sailing for this boy who had to walk 8 Kms from his Village to catch a taxi in Pfutsero town which is the nearest taxi stand from the village.

He walked against all odds just to reach Dimapur on time where the summer camp was happening and with the skills he possessed he caught the eyes of the coaches present at the camp leaving a lasting impression.

FC Naga Tornadoes came calling and realized his ambitions for which he is really grateful towards the management. He is nicknamed the “Bulldozer" which he got while playing a match in Zunebhoto.

The story goes that he was the sole player who was fearless enough to dive and score a goal in the rock-strew and uneven pitch. Messi is his favourite footballer and FC barcelona is his favourite team along with Mohan Bagan.

Mesechulo is a right footed striker, 5'7 inches tall and full or raw talent. With no prior formal football training this young footballer credits his older brothers for teaching him the game and thanks his father, a teacher at Government School Pfutsero for his support.

Now with the kickoff on March 10 and Naga Tornadoes ready to play against New Market FC, Mesechulo is well trained and eager to prove himself in the NPL.

He is grateful to Naga Tornadoes FC for roping him into the team and all set to go firing on all cylinders when he plays his first match against the all loud, all history, all talent and the meanest football club in Nagaland, New Market FC.
If passion is what drives people, odds are just probables for the "Bulldozer - Mesechulo Mero".
