Ward 14 and 3 win inter-ward tourney titles

Poter Lane/Old Minister Hill (Ward No.14) emerged as the championship in men's football while Naga Bazar (Ward No 3) lifted women's volley championship in the 3rd Inter-ward tourney which concluded at Sekhazou, D.Khel ground here Tuesday.

In football final, Poter Lane/OMH (Ward No.14) defeated Agri/Forest/Electrical (Ward No.17) by 7-0 to lift the coveted championship trophy and walked away with a cash of Rs.30,000.

In women's volleyball, Naga Bazar (Ward No 3) defeated P.R. Hill and walked away with Rs. 20,000, while the runners- up pocketed Rs. 10,000.

Earlier, gracing the final matches, minister for family and health welfare, Kuzoluzho Neinu said that participation, sportsmanship and display of sportsmanship was the most important instead of winning the tournament/games.

Azo who had the privileged to witness the Olympic and also the FIFA World Cup, reminded the players that there was no chief guest culture but people from all over the places perform their duties without any hitches.

He also lauded the 12 wards for participating in the tourney. "Every Sportsman dream is to win and become the champion, and winning can be a wonderful experience and it can be one of the proudest moment for anyone of us, but at the same time, never ever under estimate the value of losing", he added. Former MLA Abao Kire gave away the trophies and prizes to the winners.
