NSCN (I-M) has issued a strong warning on Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) for the “senseless accusations heaped upon the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN).”

Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) said the organization was “constrained” to issue the statement to “protect and save the security of the people and the Naga nation.”

MIP said ACAUT’s “naked and single-minded attack against one organization” proved its “intention and motive” and which ACAUT “cannot pretend for long”.

It said the “modus operandi” of ACAUT “was clear to us” as the intention was to “tarnish the image of the organization and jeopardize the on-going political dialogue in the name of curbing the so-called illegal tax”.

Terming the statements as “treacherous and politically motivated” MIP accused ACAUT of allowing itself “to become the instruments of the forces that are working against the cause of the people”.

Further, MIP said ACAUT members “have lost the real focus” and instead “have become a condescending platform of some elements” to defame NSCN (I-M) which “has stood for the cause and history of the Naga people”.

Slamming ACAUT for having formed “into a kind of sinister syndicate camouflaged and masquerading as the Good Samaritan”, MIP reiterated that ACUAT committee “cannot take the law and order into their own hands”.

“We are duty bound to treat critically any forces working against the cause of the Naga people”

MIP said ACAUT committee “is not licensed to loosely question the nation and organization” which was involved in bringing political solution that was “acceptable to both the parties”.

MIP warned that NSCN (I-M) “will not allow any forces to disturbed the nation, under any form of hidden agenda”.

“We are duty bound to treat critically any forces working against the cause of the Naga people and the general public” stated MIP.

Maintaining that the organization would correct itself by doing the best it can, MIP however pointed out that ACAUT committee members “have gone beyond the limit in their attempt to police the Naga national movement” by unwittingly becoming a “tool of the divisive forces”.

MIP also said ACAUT was “dancing like fools to the tune of the powers whose intentions are very clear to us.”

MIP warned that NSCN (I-M) “will not remain as silent spectators to the emerging treacherous state of affairs” created by ACAUT committee and would “treat the situation as a matter of national security and also a threat to the peace and security of the Naga people” MIP cautioned ACAUT that it should “function within the bounds and never go beyond.”

Mention may be made that ACAUT was formed by several organizations under the aegis of Naga Council in May, 2013 in an effort to abolish the rampant illegal taxation by various Naga underground factions and the menace of syndicate system.

The committee had been particular on abolishment of the syndicate system where business community was compelled to pay taxes for selling commodities and produce, whether procured from outside or from within the state.

Meetings were also held with NSCN (I-M) and the GPRN/NSCN at their respective designate camps with no definitive solution in sight.

Continuing its fight, ACAUT have been highlighting numerous findings of illegal taxations by Naga underground groups, over-grounds and state government agencies in the media.
