Benjongmenla, the 20-year old B.Com (final) student of Dimapur Government College was crowned ‘Miss Dimapur 2013’ at an impressive beauty pageant at Town Hall here, Friday, among twelve other contestants.
Gihutoli (23) was the first Runners-up and Paukizone(20) the second runners-up. Shurhaseno Yano and Viliho Chishi were among the five top finalists.
Bendangla wife of Dr. Benjongliba Aier, parliamentary secretary (agriculture) was chief guest and Dimapur Naga Women Hoho, Hukheli T. Wotsa, was guest of honour.
In her speech, Mrs Bendangla encouraged the contestants and all women, to exude their inner beauty that was God’s gift and become women of substance to overcome all difficulties in life.
Guest of Honour Hukheli in her speech praised all the contestants and urged upon them to be a peace makers and an ambassadors to bring a change in society.
The five judges included chief judicial magistrate, Dimapur, T. Mezivolu T. Therie, Miss Luit representative, Kashmira Nath, former NSF president and associate press secretary to chief minister, Pushika Awomi, director, writer, editor and correspondent, Bano Haralu, and district administrator, Temjensangla.
Host of the evening was Samuel Ralte, announcer, Moala Imchen, Kahuli Sema (designer), Calvina Sema, Glamazon parlour (Make-up), Arif Mukham (choreographer), Toshizen Longkumer (programme director), Ayn Longkumer (show manager), and Allin Awomi (assistant director).
Miss Dimapur 2013 walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while the 1st and the 2nd runners-up got Rs 30000 and 20000 respectively, aside from gift hampers.
Other subtitle winners included Mercy Kithan (Miss Congeniality), Viliho Chishi (Miss Photogenic), Shurhaseno Yano (Miss Catwalk), Epi Ovung (EGoN Fresh Face), Benjongmenla (Miss Perfect 10), Keren (Miss Talented) and Kenei (Best Modern Ethnic Wear).
Besides the subtitles, Mercy Kithan and Benjongmenla were selected to participate in the Miss Luit beauty contest.
