Dr. Nicky visits Amur Falcon roosting site at Hakhizhe

Minister for environment, forest and climate change, Dr. Nicky Kire along with forest officials visited Amur Falcon roosting site at Hakhizhe village, Niuland on November 21. 
During the visit, Kire interacted with the officer in charge and staff of range office and inspected Niuland range office. 
He also took up various issues pertaining to land encroachment, construction of forest check gate, road conditions and electricity connections that was brought to his notice. 
GB of the village highlighted about the uniqueness of Hakhezhe roosting site, one of its kind in Nagaland, where Amur Falcon found roosting in teak plantation other than natural forest. 
According to the GB, Falcons first started roosting about two to three years back and since on their, villagers have been taking measures to protect the migratory birds with the assistance of the forest department Dimapur division. 
To this, GB requested the minister and officials to develop the area and equip the village with basic amenities for the tourists visiting the roosting site. 
Minister was accompanied by principal secretary N.N. Zhasa IFS, principal chief conservator of forest and HoFF, M. L. Rao IFS, chief Wildlife warden S. P. Tripathy IFS, secretary Forests Imtiela IFS, DFO Dimapur Ihevi Aomi and host of officials from forest department.
