Joint Action Committee comprising of representatives from 13 Naga women organizations, Tuesday demanded immediate clarification from Imtinungsang Longchar, personal secretary (PS) to home minister for his “defamatory, derogatory statements” on the office of the NMA, that appeared in the local dailies on July 19. Further the committee (JAC) also demanded a public apology from the home minister’s office within two days for the “vindictive defamatory statements” made by the PS failing which the JAC warned of resorting to its own course of action.
JAC pointed out that it comprised o Naga women from 13 organisations and not a committee of the NMA. The committee: president NMA, secretary NMA, advisor NMA, president Watsu Mungdang, president Tenyimia Women Organisation, president Pochury Women Organisation  Kohima, president Sumi  Totimi Hoho Kohima, Tribal Representative Kyong Lotha Eloe Ekhung, president Angamimiapfu Mechu krotho, president Chakhesang Women Society Kohima, general secretary Naga Women Hoho Dimapur, secretary Tangkhul Women Hoho Dimapur, vice-president,Mao Women Hoho, Dimapur, president Zeliang Mipui Organisation and president ENWO.
JAC said it was formed primarily   to seek justice on the May 27 armed violence on the Naga lady who belonged to the “home minister’s own tribe”. It alleged that “targeting the NMA has been done with willful, malafide intention to tarnish the esteemed office.”
In view of the urgency of the matter (May 27 incident), JAC said it made every effort through various sources, for an appointment with the Home minister, through the Watsu Mungdang on June 14 and 15 since both the chief minister and governor were out of station. JAC said on June 18 morning (8 a.m.), when its delegation went to the official residence of the Home minister, the house guards informed them that the minister was out of station but his wife and personal secretary were at home.
JAC said it submitted its memorandum to the PS through the house guards, with a request to append his signature on the JAC copy. The JAC further said, after almost twenty minutes, the house guard returned with both copies saying that the personal secretary to home minister had refused to take the memorandum and asked them to return after the minister’s return.
