In response to the Nagaland University PGSU (SETAM)’s statement that sought clarification from it on “non disbursement of scholarship for the year 2010 till date”, department of Higher & Technical Education (HT&E) Thursday clarified that it had selected 12 students for award of post-matric scholarship for ST students during 2010-2011, adding none of the students submitted their bank pass book for the year 2010-2011.

Explaining that it was the reason why the department could not credit scholarship to their accounts, the HT&E director, in a release said as per 2011-2012 reocrds, six students had enclosed xerox copies of bank pass book in the application forms while six students had not submitted their account number till date.

Further, the director explained that in implementing the new policy of disbursing scholarships directly to the students’ personal account through bank, the department had issued notification informing the students to submit their personal bank account number, bank address, IFSC and a xerox copy of the bank pass book (front page) separately for the year 2010-11 and 2011-2012.

According to the director, the department was crediting the scholarship amount to the students’ account through bank, basing on the account number submitted by the students for the year 2010-2011 and not on the Xerox copy of the pass book which was attach to the scholarship application forms for the year 2011-2012.

It said the department receives more than 43,000 application every year and finalization of account number from these application forms of 2011-12 would be done only after scrutiny was completed, explained the director.

Without clarifying the details from the department, the director said students should not defame the image of the department with false allegation.

The director also said that the department, in spite of the sudden implementation of the new policy, was giving all its efforts in crediting scholarship to the students’ account through bank.

However, the director further pointed out that many students have submitted wrong account number, wrong IFSC code of the bank which was delaying the implementation process. “Incase of any doubt or non-receive of scholarship, students are informed to clarify the reasons from the department,” said the director.
