Kapoulu Cultivators, Pfutsero (KCP) Sunday alleged that the Pfutseromi villagers “badly destroyed agricultural products at Kapoulu” on May 30 last and warned that around 30 villages in that area were ready to take any course of action, to “retaliate against Pfutseromi villagers any time,” if justice did not prevail.
KCP chairman Vengozo Thira and secretary Vekelie Venuh said that the cultivated area “was approximately 150 acres and from which the harvest was about Rs. 1, 0,00,000/-”.
Stating that since 2011, around 200 cultivators had been cultivating at Chierie Khinu, land of Kapoulu, KCP however said, “in one course of cultivation i.e. felling the trees, grasses, clearing the reeds and burning, sowing seeds and till 30th May 2012 of incident, Pfutseromi Villagers never informed us to stop the work in any forms”.
It was very clear that the Pfutseromi villagers acted “intentionally with Black Heart” and destroyed the agricultural crops for the year from which cultivators earn their living, KCP stated; adding, the incident has affected many families living on hand to mouth circumstances.
KCP further said women folks were left to shed their tears as the incident has not only affected feeding their family, but also children’s education, as the main source of income depended on cultivation. In this regard, KCP warned that it would retaliate against Pfutseromi Villagers if justice failed to prevail.
