Zunheboto public protest molestation of teenage girl

Thousands of people, mostly school students gathered at Centre Point here Saturday to protest the molestation act committed by one Shiaduddin, a resident of Karimganj district, Assam on a local teenaged girl at Zunheboto.
The rally was addressed by host of leaders from Sumi frontal organizations including Khuketo Yeptho, president Zunheboto Range Students’ Union, Kakihe Yeptho, president Sumi Kukami Hoho, Boholi Awomi, general secretary, Sunmi Totimi Hoho, Zhehoto from GB association Zunheboto and Kivishe Zhimomi from the Business Union Zunheboto. Officials from the district administration including Additional S.P, EAC (Headquarter), O.C, police station Zunheboto were among those who were present at Saturday’s protest rally.
The rally adopted a three point resolution which was endorsed by leaders who addressed the rally with approval from the gathering. The resolution stated that non-bailable sentence should be awarded to the accused and that no individual, unions, groups, association or organization should attempt to try bailing out the accused. The resolution warned anyone attempting to do so of being ex-communicated along with the accused.
It was also resolved that after the trial sentence was over, all the trade licenses and related permits of the accused would be cancelled and the accused would be chased out from Zunheboto after serving his sentence. It also resolved that in future, if such act was committed by any non-local, the whole community he belonged to, would be held responsible that might follow excommunication of the whole community.
Saturday’s rally was held under the aegis of ZRSU who had taken the accused for questioning after the act was committed and had handed him over to the police later. The accused worked at a Photo studio by the name “Friends Studio” and had lured the girl into the dark room of the studio where the victim had gone to take passport photo.
Meanwhile, ZRSU thanked all those who participated at the rally and made special mention to the administrators/proprietors of schools, leaders of Sumi frontal organizations, business establishments, officials from the district administration, police and IRB personnel for the success and smooth conduct of the rally.
