Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) O. Alem Thursday inaugurated the new office of SP Nagaland Police Telecommunication Organization (NPTO) cum communication building at Sangtemla ward, Mokokchung.

At the brief inaugural programme, the DGP in his speech outlined the importance of communication in policing and expressed hope that through the inauguration of the new building, NPTO would function more smoothly and swiftly.
O. Alem reminisced the communication system in the early days and compared it with the present day improved and better system.

The DGP also called upon the staff and all ranks of SP (NPTO) to take care of the building.
The communication centre would mainly function as a hub for “receiving and transmitting all law and order, semi law and order and non-law and order” messages of the law enforcing department and messages of all other state government agencies of the district (both normal and urgent matters) and from the state capital, all other districts and remote outposts. 

The centre, equipped with modern communication system and functions round the clock, would act as district police control-room and disaster control centre.

The inaugural programme was chaired by Rongsenniken SP (NPTO) Mokokchung while the welcome address was delivered by S. Changkei Konyak SP (NPTO) Kohima.

A brief report on the building was given by the police project engineering Mokokchung, Alichen while a brief report on communication was delivered by Temjen,  inspector NPTO Mokokchung.
