Wokha, Kiphire District Planning and Development Board meeting

Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting held on June 18 at DC’s Conference Hall, was presided over by minister for agri, Dr. Chumben Murry where Deputy Speaker NLA, Ralanthung Yanthan, Parliamentary Secretary Y. Patton and Parliamentary Secretary W. Kithan also attended the meeting.

Presiding over the meeting, the chairman extended his warm welcome to all the members present and the new deputy commissioner, Wokha, Vyasan R.

Reviewing the last meeting minutes, chairman Kyong Hoho highlighted detail activities/programme to be taken up during Youth Expo cum Tokhu Emong festival.

The board after deliberation, decided to constitute a sub-committee with ADC, HQ, Wokha as convenor; chairman Kyong Hoho as member secretary along with other members GM, DIC, Wokha; YRO, Wokha; assistant director, art and culture; president KSU; chairperson Kyong Eloe Hoho and president Kyong Youth Hoho. The sub-committee was also requested to convene a meeting for further modification of the draft activities at the earliest for onward submission to planning department for further action.

Parliamentary secretary for irrigation and flood control informed the house that draft modalities has been submitted by the consultant where various NGOs will be invited for further deliberation. President KSU also requested the legislators of Wokha district to convey to the government to bring out the modalities at the earliest.

Convener district education review committee highlighted the board on the performance of govt. high schools and private schools in 2012 and also informed that, compared to last year’s HSLC result, there was a marginal improvement this year.

The board requested the district education review committee to work out modalities for improvement of HSLC result where logistic support will be given by DPDB.

The proposal forwarded by SDEO Wokha, for grant-in-aid to various schools was deferred to next DPDB meeting for further deliberation. The proposal for Dr. M. M. District Hospital Wokha Logo forwarded by Medical Superintendent Wokha was thoroughly examined by the board and resolved to approve in principle.

YRO, Wokha, appraised the house that the ongoing District Level Sports Complex at Wokha was funded by NEC in the form of one time grant but the work was stopped by the contractor. In view of the above, he requested DPDB to find out fund provision in order to start the work.

After deliberation the chairman suggested YRO Wokha to come out with new DPR and submit to the department in-charge for further action.

EAC Hq, Wokha made power-point presentation on the pathetic road condition in an around Wokha town. In this connection, chairman DPDB Wokha apprised the members that repair of town roads will be carried out as and when fund was received from the authority.

KIPHIRE: Kiphire monthly DPDB meeting for the month of June was held at the official chamber of DC on June 16. MLA C. Kipili also attended the meeting.

Kipili who took part in the discussion on development of the district enquired about viability of construction of helipad at Sitimi EAC HQ where the EAC said the landscape was suitable for construction of helipad.

Vice chairman and deputy commissioner warned officers abstaining from DPDB meet regularly that stern action would be taken on those officers who do not attend the next DPDB meeting, and their names marked and sent to their respective directorate for action.

DC also enquired about the ongoing drainage work at Kiphire where EE NPWD responded that the work was in progress.
CMO Kiphire, Dr. Yanhko Lotha spoke on anti-malaria campaign taken up by the department.

He said along with mosquito nets, DDT was distributed and spread in the courtyard and near settlement area to prevent malaria.

CMO also spoke on prevention, causes of malaria and activities of the department in the meeting. The board also passed grant-in-aid to three schools.
