‘Intl day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking’ observed

Care-Counseling Center: ‘International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking’ was observed at Care-Counseling Center Mokokchung on the theme “Global action for Healthy Community without Drugs”.
Bendangwati Aier, director CCC appealed to all drug users to give up their bad habits and come into the main stream and live healthy life.
There was a panel discussion and all panelists condemned selling of drugs without proper prescription to the users and also decided to take up the matters to the department in-charge. The programme also had a slogan competition where Anna was adjudged first while Ajang Aier was declared second.
Chunlikha: Peoples Welfare Society, Drop-in-Centre Chunlikha joined the rest of the country in observing ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking’ with students and teachers of Don Bosco School, Tesophenyu. Ruth Thong project director of PWS delivered the significance of the day while Dr. Thomas Keppen visiting doctor of PWS, delivered a short speech.
Tseminyu: Kripa foundation Drop in Centre Tseminyu, observed ‘International Day against abuse and Illicit Trafficking’. Principal, Mt. Terogu Theological College CRBC Zunpha, youth directors, student union presidents, teachers and church members attended the programme.
Care & Support Society Mokokchung: ‘International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking ‘was also observed at Care & Support Society Mokokchung by organizing a duet competition for the youth of Tzurangkong range Mokokchung.
Around 60 participants, church leaders, village council members and student bodies and well wishers attended the event under the theme “Think Health- Not Drugs”.
The winners of the duet competition are 1st- Chuntiayimsen CYE, 2nd - Moayimti CYE and 3rd - Longpayimsen CYE.
Significant of the day was delivered by Moatoshi counselor Mobile-ICTC Mokokchung. Three key stakeholders- Tzurangkong Senso Mungdang, Tzurangkong Students Union, Tzurangkong Arogo Tenzuker Telongjem- spoke on the topic “My response to the problem of Substance abuse”.
CAD: Community Alliance Dimapur (CAD) district also observed the day with testimony, special numbers and speeches by the members followed by indoor games and refreshments.
Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre: Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre, FIDU DIC observed the day on the theme “Global action for healthy communities without drug”. The programme was conducted at FIDU DIC westward with Haiyale Kath, vice president of Exotic Echo as the special guest for the programme.
Enoch, Project Coordinator, SCENEI-CSD BYWCD delivered the message based on the theme. He stated that drug use in Nagaland started in the early 1980’s during which majority of the people did not know or identify who were the drug users and that pharmaceutical drugs were freely purchased from any pharmacies.
He also stressed on the issues of women on drug, sex and the associated problems involved. The programme was followed by distribution of nutritional support to FIDUs and PMIs. Altogether 35 participants attended the program and 15 clients received nutritional support.
