State lagging behind in co-operative education

Registrar of Co-operative Societies T. Imkonglemla Longkumer on June 25 while stressing on the importance of co-operative education said Nagaland was lagging behind in co-operative educational and training programme which are necessary for the success of cooperative societies.

She was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural training programme for beneficiary co-operatives societies under the 2nd phase ICDP Dimapur on June 25 at Nagaland State Co-operative Union Office Dimapur.

She highlighted that co-operative intuition like AMUL, Mother Dairy, Sugar Mill of  North India, Textile mill of South Indian were successful due to the zeal of cooperative education amongst the societies who were well trained, adding, whereas Nagaland was lacking in cooperative educational and training programme.

She also asserted the important aspect that would guarantee success for the cooperative societies if there was maintenance of proper books of account, regulate audits & inspection of the society, regularly organise training and skill up-gradation programme, democratic management of society and maintain proper credit management of fund.

Key note address was delivered by Imtinungba Jamir joint RCS, monitoring officer ICDP who gave a brief account of ICDP project and encouraged the participant co-operators to make good use of the training programme.

Short speech was also delivered by Lalam Doungel General Manager Credit NSCB Ltd. Dimapur. The programme was chaired by Velasa Nakro, chief project officer, ICDP Dimapur and R. Bandang Ao development officer delivered the welcome address. The training would be held till August 26.
