A Naga youth was reported to have drowned while out with friends at Chathe River on Tuesday afternoon. According to sources, the victim identified as 32 year-old A. Imna Longkumer, working as assistant project manager in the IT department, and son of N. Akang Longkumer from Ungma Village under Mokokchung district, drowned in the strong current while taking a swim when he had gone for picnic to a park located at new Chumukedima with friends.

A rescue operation which was pressed in to service to retrieve the body was unable to do so because of the strong currents. However, rescue operation would resume at first light on Wednesday, added the source.
