Late Rev. Dr. Neiliezhii Usou memorial award

Late Rev. Dr. Neiliezhii Usou memorial award for music took place on Sunday at Rev. Dr. Neiliezhii Usou Memorial hall.

C.L. John, MLA & Chairman, MARCOFED Nagaland gave away the award to the recipient, Angel Ngullie, who scored 98 marks in music and 14 toppers in the last HSLC examination. She was awarded citation and cash money of Rs. 15,000.

Addressing the gathering C. L. John said music was meditation of the aspiration of the heart of the people.

“Without music, society cannot live in this world smoothly or happily”, he said. Praising late Rev. Dr. Neiliezhii Usou, for his significant contribution towards music in Nagaland, he said “Through his love of music and vision for better music for the Nagas, many young talented has chosen music as their profession today.”

He also said the growth of music schools and student’s taking up music as a career was encouraging and urged the gathering to give due importance to music.

The award "Rev. Dr. Neiliezhii Usou Memorial Award for Music" is given to the highest scorer in Music in High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination. This award is given annually and carries a citation and cash money of Rs.15, 000.

The award has been instituted and approved by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) for his tremendous contribution to the growth of music in Nagaland.
