2011 census a breath of fresh air: State Chief Information Commissioner

Chief Information Commissioner Lalhuma Friday congratulated director of Census Operations and government of Nagaland for their spectacular achievement during a book release function of the provisional population totals, paper 2 volume 11 of Nagaland for 2011, housing tables, census 2011 and houselisting data sheets of census 2011 at Hotel Vivor Friday.

Lalhuma said we all know 2001 census was a highly inflated census but 2011 census comes as a breath of fresh air. This was made possible by the proactive involvement of civil societies, NGOs and political will, he added.

He said if there was no political will, census 2012 like 2001could have been bloated. Complimenting the departments for the good leadership and team work he expressed hope that in the coming years too, such work would be witnessed so that Nagaland could move from strength to strength.

CS says census helps in planning, business
Chief secretary Lalthara in his address expressed happiness over the outcome of the census work. He said the present census was very important and would be a great help for government planners, NGOs, business persons, entrepreneurs in determining the trends, status of people, business direction etc.

Additional chief secretary and development commissioner Alemtemshi in his speech dwelt on the importance of census and statistics to our very existence.

He said the process of census was very complicated but was a mundane thing for many people. Emphasizing on the importance of proper and correct census, he said there was a great need to really keep focusing on this, especially for planners and development experts. The census was the essential ingredients where policies and decisions have to be made, he said.

Provisional Population Totals, Paper 2 Volume II was released by Lalhuma while Lalthara released the Housing Tables, Census 2011.

Alemtemshi ACS & development commissioner released Houselisting Data Sheets of Census 2011 while presentations were given by  Imkongnungsang ADCO and by Hekali Zhimomi DCO. Nungsang Aier, the deputy director chaired the programme and Peseyie proposed vote of thanks.
