Sponsored by the PHED, Mokokchung Division and organized by the Social Service Society, Salangtem Ward, an awareness programme on sanitation and hygiene was held at Salangtem Community Hall, Mokokchung on July 11.

Executive Engineer, PHED, Mokokchung division, Er. I.Chuba Aier in his introductory speech mentioned that the department is organizing seminars in all the villages in the district to educate the people on sanitation & hygiene laying emphasis on women and also helping the villages by providing necessary materials and financial assistance mentioning that “PHED department is the friend of poor people”.

IEC Consultant, PHED, Mokokchung, Limasenla Longkumer while giving pointers on sanitation and hygiene said one of the most important issues throughout the world was good sanitation and safe drinking water. And as such she said, total sanitation campaign is being carried out in all villages in the district.

She was also optimistic that the programme which was the first in urban area in the district would bring positive outcome for the people of Mokokchung town.

Executive Engineer, I.Chuba Aier also provided dustbin, water filter and movable toilet item to Salangtem ward council to be kept at important locations for which the ward chairman thanked the PHED dept. for their generous contribution.
