Post of CDPO, which was originally Class I gazetted but downgraded to Class II, has now been upgraded to Class I after 34 years, stated All Nagaland CDPOs Association.

In a statement ANCDPOs association president Keviseyiezo Vizo and general secretary Imlitungzuk said CDPO was equivalent to BDO, which was Class II in the state in 1978 as per government of India order that stated “CDPO should be the same appropriate Cadre as that of BDO in the State”.

However, they said in course of time BDOs were upgraded to Class I gazetted officers in 1993 but state government did not intend to restore the status of CDPOs.

ANCDPOs association said it had been struggling and pursuing the state government
for restoration of its original status (Class I Gazette) at par with BDO, as per government of India order. And finally state cabinet July 23 gave approval to restore the posts of 59 CDPOs back to its original status Class I gazetted.

They said all the members of the association highly appreciated and thanked Rio-led DAN government for approval. The association also thanked the P & AR department, planning department and finance department for giving their consent.
It also thanked the secretary, subordinate officers and staffs of social welfare department for their support.

The association further thanked its  parliamentary secretary Chothisü Sazo, chief secretary and late N. Putsure, former secretary social welfare and all responsible.
