Discipleship Bible College,Signal Angami, established in 1981 celebrated its   fresher’s day at the campus to welcome 69 new students for various courses with Editor Nagaland Post Geoffrey Yaden as guest of honour.

Felicitating the newcomers, staff and students, he also lauded the founders of the DBC and made a special mention of the principal Rev.Dr Nuklu Longkumer, who has been faithful for the past 17 years.
In his brief message, Geoffrey Yaden opined that the current over emphasis on academic qualifications was due to high demand among churches and ministries.

He however sounded a note of caution that emphasis on  academic excellence as requirement for effective ministry has compromised  spiritual qualification.

In this regard, he said cerebral knowledge of God alone can only be at the cost of the spiritual aspect. Dependence on  knowledge has caused problems where diverse philosophies and liberalism has entered the church, he said. He therefore urged students to balance the cerebral with the spiritual for effective ministry.

Yaden also encouraged students to learn need-based skills for self-reliance as it was biblical, while pointing to the life of Paul who supported himself by making tents.

Quoting from James 1:22, he urged students to practice what they preached or else it would be self-deceiving. He said those searching for the true God will follow only if  a true believer leads the way instead of only preaching about it.

He concluded by urging students to be steadfast in their faith and be prepared to face trials and tribulations.

Earlier, delivering a speech on behalf of the fresher’s, Kumzukinla, M.Div-II student said that they were immensely blessed to be amongst dedicated lecturers and God fearing brothers and sisters.
Vote of thanks was offered by Taku Jamir, member Board of Governors DBC.

A special prayer for the fresher’s was also invoked by principal DBC, Rev. Dr. Nuklu Longkumer.
Over hundreds of students, lecturers and well wishers were also entertained with choreography, presentation and special song by diploma-II, Watsülong, Manshen and friends and fresher’s respectively.

DBC, the only private college in the state to be recognized by Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC)  welcomed 69 students to the new academic session.
