Knowledge for Action Now shows solidarity with high risk group

Knowledge for Action Now (K-FAN) State level community event, organized by CHP Prodigal Home Nagaland and Care Foundation Manipur at AIDA Training centre Dimapur was held Friday under the theme “Fusion of knowledge and solidarity”, with project director, NSACS, Dr. Nandira Changkija as the chief guest.
The event was organized to show solidarity with high risk group/individuals whilst promoting better relationship among people on health, HIV and other right issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Changkija said it is one’s choice that determines what an individual wants to do though there are circumstances in life. Reminding the gathering to know how practical a person was in his approach.
“Everyone is responsible, unless knowledge, solidarity and action was translated it would be meaningless”, Dr. Changkija said.
She also asserted that sense of parental responsibility has to build up, adding that knowledge begins with “what you can do and what your hands can do, until a person work, no one has the right to judge anyone”, said Dr. Chankija.
She encouraged the participants to enjoy knowing oneself and knowing one’s capabilities”, reiterating that final decision solely depend on an individual and that should not be influential.
Panelist from Community Alliance (targeted community representative), in his brief address had appealed the gathering not to refer drug users as targeted or vulnerable to HIV&AIDS persons as that make them feel alienated and urged to work to bring changes in the society.
Another panelist of N. Naga Dao said knowing one’s right is not enough until one knows its responsibility. He urged upon the gatherings to unite, share and make a better place to live in.
Panelist from excise department said except moral conviction, death penalty would not reduce a person’s addiction. While extending support he also called upon the gathering to work better that will reduce stigma and discrimination.
Imti Longchar, president press club, Dimapur also panelist in his address said fusion of knowledge should not be mechanical just for the sake while solidarity for the targeted people should not be in the form of tolerant or indulgent because one was compelled to. Stake holders need to focus on the human touch as acceptance was imperative, said Longchar.
Baptist youth fellowship, a panelist said churches can initiate psychological support, religious ethics yet church alone was not responsible. She said there was an urgent need to address the issue with a holistic approach.
SDPO Niuland Khalo who was one among the panelist said improper guidance to children and misuse of money lead the children astray. He said parents are more responsible to see the movements of their children than organizations.
Children from Galillie Welfare youth ministry, People Using Drugs (PUD), People Living with HIV, Female group of Manipur (PLHIV/FSW) All Manipur Nupi Manbi Association (AMANA)-MSM attended the function.
Earlier, director Prodigal’s Home K. Ela delivered welcome address.The second session was followed by poster and painting display, community knowledge sharing fare, extempore speech and debate on prohibition by PUD.
