A person was arrested by Kohima police personnel, manning Khuzama police check gate, and recovered huge quantity of contraband drugs from his possession August 9, police said.

According to statement issued by SDPO Kohima, police personnel intercepted a person identified as one Nurul Haque (40 ), son of Ansor Ali of Dharmanagar Halahali of Tripura while travelling towards Dimapur.

Police said the seizure, one of the biggest so far, included two kilograms (approx) of brown sugar, 100 gms of suspected heroin and 4000 psychotropic tablets.

Police further said that the total seizure was estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees in the local market and much higher in the international market.
