‘Clean election campaign’ reaches Wokha

‘Clean election campaign’ launched by NBCC reached Wokha coordinated by KBES where a good number of trainees from different denomination attended the seminar.

Those representing different denominations- Kyong Eloe Hoho, Kyong Youth Hoho, Kyong Hungjantaren Ekhung, Kyong Youth Initiative etc., attended.

At the first part of the programme, Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu, President of NBCC spoke on ‘Role of the Church in Politics and a better state’. He said the duty of the Church was to speak to the hearts of the people according to the Word of God so that their attitude would change.

Church was not a law enforcing agency but should speak the word of God to electoral process, he added.
At the second part of the programme, Dr. Hovithal N Sothu, convener of the working committee spoke on ‘Clean Election Campaign’ and gave a detailed information about people’s participation in the election process according to the Indian constitution and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Besdies several thought provoking instances, he spoke on curtailing excess expenditure, choosing a right leader and secrecy in voting. Furthermore, he said one should not sell one’s rights nor should one try to buy other’s rights.
