Nagaland contractors’ and suppliers’ union (NCSU) said state government has failed to respond even as its agitation — poster and banner campaign —against non-release of its pending bills entered day ten Monday.
Affirming that the union would however continue with its phase-wise agitation till their genuine demands fulfilled, NCSU president Pele Khezhie and general secretary John Kath, in a press release, urged all well-wishers and the general public to extend their cooperation.
Pointing out in the event it was compelled to take any further course of agitation that might be drastic action causing inconveniences, NCSU appealed to the general public of Nagaland to bear with them.
Reminding of its July 18 general meeting decision that totally rejected the cabinet decision of July 10, 2012, which decided to constitute special investigation teams (SITs) to probe into the NCSU pending bills, NCSU said the decision was due to the fact that all the pending bills in three departments amounting to Rs. 35.83 crore have been duly verified by the competent technical engineers.
Moreover, NCSU said it had given sufficient time to the state government to come forward with any form of clarification or verification of the NCSU pending bills, but this was never done since the last two and half years.
In fact, NCSU said state cabinet decision of July 10 had twisted the actual position of the pending bills of NCSU members with excuses and delay tactics.
Meanwhile, NCSU head office Kohima has directed all NCSU district unit presidents and general secretaries to report to its head office Kohima August 24 at 11 a.m. positively to gear up for launching the second phase of agitation.
