A special investigating team (SIT) of Sonipat police claim to have busted a gang involved in issuing fake arms licenses with the arrest of a resident of Kasandi village here.

The fake documents were prepared in Dimapur, Nagaland and sold to people in Sonipat, Panipat, Rohtak and Delhi areas, Times of India report stated.

One of the main accused, Jitender has named one Sirazuddin of Nagaland in issuing these fake arm licenses.  Police seized two arms licenses issued in the name of Jitender, 15 other licenses, a revolver, one pistol, 30 rounds of bullets and a car from his possession.  The accused was produced in the court and remanded to six-day police custody.

Police spokesperson Ramesh Dalal said a trap was laid on Gohana road on Sunday evening to nab Jitender following a tip off.  Dalal said preliminary investigation revealed that the issuing authority of these licenses is from Dimapur district.

However, the district administration officer’s signatures on these seized documents differ from one license to another. Besides, there is no issuing date on these, he added.

A case has been registered against Jitender under various sections of IPC and Arms Act and a police team has been sent to Dimapur for further investigations.
