Teej festival, one of the annual festivala observed by the Gorkha community to honour their womenfolk was celebrated at Mokokchung Gorkha community hall.

The function was organized and sponsored by Mandir Sanchalan Samity of Sarvajanik Gorhka Mandir.
One of the organizers said the Gorkhas have been observing this festival as an honour to all the womenfolk for carrying all the moral responsibilities of the family as wives and daughter-in-laws.

On this day, parents allow their daughters to enjoy every moment by letting them participate in singing and dancing and by treating them lavish meals, he said.

He also said that celebrating Teej also signified the bond of true love among family members, friends and well- wishers and also test the strength of faith in God and most importantly in sustaining the Gorkha tradition that has been in practice since time immemorial.
