Kaito clarifies on road constructions

Minister Roads and Bridges G. Kaito Aye while responding to a starred question said Rs. 2941.08 lakhs was sanctioned for Dimapur-Nuiland road. Aye said that Rs. 27,3907,286.00 was paid to the contractor while 1,44,33,714 remained due. The question was raised by MLA Lanpha Konyak during the second day of the twelfth session of the eleventh Nagaland Legislative assembly.

He also responded that the road construction of Zhekiye to Satoi (70 km, Ghukhuyi up to Satoi administrative headquarter), an amount of Rs. 1438.84 lakh was sanctioned through MRD fund. Aye added that Rs. 1229.70 lakhs was paid to the contractors while 209.14 lakhs was yet to pay.

Further, the minister said an amount of Rs.1653.54 lakhs (under SIDF) ministry of Doner was sanction for the construction of Mon-Namtola road that was allotted to the contractors, M/s Pfuduolhou Kense and M/S Vilelie Khamo while 60 percent of the work has been completed.

He also informed the house that Rs. 493.88 lakhs was paid to both the contractors while an amount of Rs. 362.458 and 370.00 lakhs was due to pay to M/s Pfuduolhou Kense and M/S Vilelie Khamo respectively.

However, MLA Lanpha Konyak declined the information on the work progress that Mon-Namtola road which almost covers 44 kms was taken up since 2010 and since 2010 the work progress remain the same (60%) and informed that in the process of the road construction, almost all the available roads under Mon district was now blocked.

The minster responded that the road was an intermediate road and due to the slow funding system the work got delayed, he also asserted that he is yet to receive detail report from the department officers about the road blockade.

Furthermore the minister informed that 80 % of Zhekiye-Hokiye via Satoi 26 km road construction was completed under the sanctioned amount of Rs. 1693.61 lakhs, while Rs. 1113.68 lakhs was paid to the class-I contractor, M/S Vizeto Sumi and Rs. 579.93 lakhs was due to the contractor.

Construction of 2-lane road on NH-61, NH-155
Meanwhile, the minister said in 2008-2009, Rs 918.07 lakhs was received for the construction of two lane road on NH-61 and NH-155, while in 2009-2010, an amount of Rs. 429.71 lakhs was received, 2010-2011 Rs. 787.20 lakhs and in 2011-2012, Rs. 621.06 lakhs was received.

On being queried on the fund received for periodical maintenance of NH-61 ad NH-155 from 2008-2012, the minister replied that an amount of Rs. 331.40 lakhs was received in 2008-2009, Rs. 500.91 lakhs in 2009-2010, Rs. 500.91 lakhs in 2010-2011 and Rs. 4495.39 lakhs in 2011-2012.
The minister was responding to a starred question, raised by MLA H.Chuba Chang.
