KVK Mokokchung conducts training

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung, conducted a day-long training on vegetables, oilseeds, pulses, poultry and piggery at Akomen village under Longchem block, Mokokchung, on October 5.

Moainla, programme assistant, trained the farmers on winter vegetables to adopt proper cultivation practices such as preparation of beds for sowing and transplanting of seeds and seedlings according to the types of crops in order to prevent the crops from diseases like damping off in nursery, rotting in root crops and management on prevention, control of infested plants of diseases and pests on common cole crops (cabbage, cauliflower, Chinese cabbage, knol-khol and broccoli), root crops, tomato and chilli for improvement in production.

Samuel, SMS (Agronomy), provided training on advanced cultivation practices of Toria/Rapeseed and Pea and Dr. Rongsen, SMS (V&AH) on farming management in poultry and piggery.

The programme was followed by seeds distribution such as Toria (TS-38), Pea (Arkel), Broccoli (KTS-1 & Pushpa), Knol-khol (Early White Vienna), cabbage, radish etc.
