Dimapur police busts car-lifter gang

In continuation with its effort to crack down on theft of vehicles and recovery of vehicles, Dimapur police investigating vehicle lifting cases registered in different police stations in the district arrested 10 persons on October 16 and 19 and also recovered one Bolero reportedly with a fake registration number NL03-4723 and a tampered engine and chassis numbers.

Dimapur police said that one of the accused identified as Rahul Chetri (31), son of late R.K Chetri, a resident of Nepali Bosti, Dimapur, who is also reportedly a “tatar” in GPRN/NSCN was also in possession of one .32 pistol.

Police also disclosed that the accused were involved in several cases of vehicle lifting in the state and also wanted by the Meghalaya and West Bengal police in connection with vehicle thefts at the same time added that during a joint interrogation of the accused, they disclosed that several vehicles were lifted by the gang from Dimapur, Kohima and Wokha during the last couple of years.

They also revealed that the stolen vehicles were mostly taken to Senapati and Imphal and sold off to customers and the proceeds of the sale were shared among the members of the gang while some of them also disclosed that they were involved in smuggling of arms and contraband ganja from Manipur and were arrested earlier by Dimapur police in connection with smuggling and arms cases.

 A case was registered against the accused under East Police Station Dimapur and the accused have been forwarded to judicial custody and remanded to custody for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the other nine accused have been identified as Nzanthung Ngullie (31), son of Yambothung Ngullie of Tsori village and a resident of Sewak Colony, Dimapur, Mhonchan Ranthan (25), son of Thungchamo of Lotsu village and a resident of Duncan Bosti, Dimapur, Lohrü Mao (27), son of Loli Mao of Makhel village, Tadubi, Manipur, and a resident of Half Nagarjan, Mao Colony, Dimapur, Lokho Mao (24), son of Daiho Mao of Shajuba village and a resident of 6th Mile, Dimapur, Suresh Pradhan (33), son of late Narayan Pradhan of Borlengri, Dimapur, Showalo Kemp alias Romeo (30), son of Dopalo Kemp of Phensunyu village and a resident of Nepali Bosti, Dimapur, Netra Chetri (24), son of late Bhir Chetri, Duncan Bosti, Dimapur, Amar Das (24), son of late Noni Das, Sewak colony, Dimapur, and Nishar Khan alias Munna (25), son of late N. Khan of Mumbai West and a resident of MST colony, Dimapur.

Rahul Chetri is a CRIMINAL and NOTORIOUS person and this is a well know fact within the Nepali community.He has no place in our peace loving community.People take Bank loans and spend their hard earned money to buy vehicles for some convenience in Life and these THIEVES steal them and sell them in Manipur...Nepali community of Nagaland is disgusted to hear this.We strongly urge nagaland post to work with the police department,law enforcements and appeal for Life Imprisonment for Mr. Rahul Chetri....Thankyou Nagaland post for exposing these Criminals in our peace loving and beautiful Nagaland.
