Women urge to uphold new vision

Deputy commissioner Tuensang, T. Mhabemo Yanthan on Tuesday said every organization and society has its own goal and aspiration while challenging women folk to uphold the principle of ‘Towards a new vision’.

Speaking as chief guest at the 2nd general conference of Yimchungru Women Organization (YWO) at Kuthur village hosted by Kuthur village council, the DC called upon the gathering to excel in various fields so as to progress socially, economically, educationally and politically.

Emphasising the rich traditions and customs of Naga society, the chief guest urged them to change their mindset with positive attitude and to focus on ‘social and economic’ change in society.

Acknowledging the contribution of women in society, he urged them to work cohesively for accomplishment of their goal with sincerity, commitment, dedication and accountability.

Speaking as guest of honour, Hejila BDO Noklak, encouraged women to be committed and dedicated while rendering their services towards humanity.

She stressed on the important role women towards progress and uplift of society.
She said in today’s modern era, women are competing in various fields-politically and educationally and urged women to stand firm and fight for their rights.

Others who spoke at the conference include, M. Thsesong presidents Yimchungru Tribal Council, (YTC), Z.Throngshe, president Yimchungru Akheru Arih-ako (YAA) , K. Murelim Yim, president Yimchungru Gazette Officer Association ( YGOA).

Around 4000 delegates attended the conference including gazette officers from the district, officials from Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS) and Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam, women representatives from 51 villages of six YWO federating units.

In the programme, Yimchung Beru Arihako Tuensang town presented folk song, while special numbers were presented by Berila Tokiu and from Kohima unit and Pungro unit, cultural dances by Langa Lunso cultural club and VG Kuthur.
Meanwhile, YWO lauded Kuthur village council for hosting the conference besides, donating a sum of Rs. 37,000 for YWO vehicle project.
