To take up immediate measures to strengthen the grid of the country, National Power Committee (NCP) has asked the states, particularly in Northeast region that did not have state load dispatch centre (SLDC), to submit Detailed Project Report (DPR). This was decided at a meeting of the NPC November 9 at New Delhi under the chairmanship of Doshehe Y. Sema, minister of power government of Nagaland and chairman of NE Region Power Committee.

At the meeting, every state in the country was instructed to strengthen and also take precautionary measures to avoid causing disturbances to the grid so that the collapse of northern grid of July 2012 incident would not be repeated.

The country is experiencing disturbance in power supply with the onset of winter and rapid depletion of water.
Meanwhile, NPC chairman Doshehe would convene the next NPC meeting on January 11, 2013 at Kohima, where all the five regional power committee members of the country would be attending the meeting. Experts in hydro electric project, thermal power plant and information technology from Germany are also expected to attend the meeting.
