Lalthara lauds CYA for social, spiritual contribution

The year-long golden jubilee celebration of Catholic youth association (CYA) Christ King Church Kohima village culminated Saturday under the theme “You are the light of the world” with chief secretary of Nagaland Lalthara IAS gracing the programme as the chief guest at Christ king school ground.

Lalthara in his address lauded CYA Christ king Church for its social and spiritual contribution to the society for the last 50 years and encouraged them to continue doing so even future.

Encouraging the members to thank the Lord for His blessings, the chief guest said any man without a grateful heart is not a true Christian.
He said whoever serves God should serve with gladness and joyful hearts.

Appreciating the catholic community, he said the members were well disciplined and organized and also contributes a lot for the society in terms of health services, institutions etc., and sometimes even more than the government.

He appreciated Kohima village for maintaining its surroundings and also expressed his admiration for the Angami tribe for its dignity and preserving their roots.
He said other tribes should also learn the good qualities from the Angamis like maintaining its dignity, tradition and culture.

He said development in the society was important but it should not take place at the cost of somebody or its roots, for which he praised the Angamis.
The chief guest also released CYA photo gallery magazine and CYA photo documentary in commemoration of its golden jubilee.
Earlier, Rev. Fr. Jerome Moshary Parish priest CKC invoked God’s blessings.

The programme was chaired by Keneigu Albert and Vilanuo Angela, Kevitsu Peter president CYA delivered the welcome speech, greetings by Gerard Meyase president Nagaland catholic youth movement (NCYM) and Bishop of Kohima, cultural display by Zeliangrong and Chakhesang dance troupe and special songs by jubilee choir.
Later, there was ‘Youth nite’ where different local artistes performed.

The formal function was followed by a cultural extravaganza by the Sema, Zeliangrong, Chakhesang and local churches. There was a photo gallery exhibition on the last 50 years categorized into 1960-70, 1970-80, 1980-90, 1990-2000, 2000-10 and 2010-12 its activities carried out by the church and leaders’ photo.
Thousands of people including invitees, local church members, fathers and nuns and well wishers attended the golden celebration.

 On November 11 (Sunday), the solemn jubilee Eucharist would be done by Most Rev. Dr. James Thopil Bishop of Kohima as the main celebrant at 9 am. at Christ King church.
