Mission Convention 2012 organised by Chakhesang Baptist Church Council kick started in Kohima. The third service saw a huge turnout of believers braving the cold weather. The speaker for the evening was Dr. Phuveyi Dozo, Founder President, United College of Theology & Misson, Dimapur. Speaking on the topic ‘The Call & Commitment to the Great Commission’, he said that this world has a lot of philosophies and thoughts but the only truth is God, hence we have to work harder to spread this truth.
“If we do not move and give for missionary work we will have to live in guilty silence”, he said. Saying that there are four kinds of churches namely social church, excuse church, unaware church and finally the obedient or the Antioch church, he exhorted the gathering to follow the example of the Antioch church.
Comparing the church to a football match, Dr. Dozo said that each member of the church should fulfill his role irrespective of whether fans were cheering or not. He further stated that the Americans brought Nagas the gospel and now it was one’s turn to pass on the baton as people run the rally race of Christ. Quoting William Carey who said, ‘Do great things for Jesus and expect great things from him’, Rev. Dozo challenged the congregation to further their commitment to the great commission.
Earlier, Bible reading and prayer was said by Rev. Dusanu Venyo, special numbers by CBCK (MH) choir, Ebenezer and Vesato Theluo, benediction by Rev. Dingu Kenye. The mission spotlight for the evening was on the missionaries in North India who enthralled the gathering with their lively Hindi and Bhojpuri gospel songs.
