Wokha DPDB decides to ban trading of migratory birds

WOKHA: Wokha district planning development board (DPDB) members while deliberating on trading and selling of migratory bird in Wokha district felt that it needed to put a total ban on trading and selling of migratory birds in open market with immediate effect.

EAC Sungro, Shaying Sheu highlighted the route of migratory birds, its benefit in killing of caterpillars and also hinted that it may not be healthy to consume the birds. The DPDB members were deliberating this at the monthly meeting held on November 12 at DC’s Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by ADC Headquarter, Sosutla.

On behalf of the administration, ADC thanked and appreciated at the work rendered by NGOs, Kyong Hoho, Eloe hoho, officers in the district and all who were involved for the success of the youth expo cum tribal festival (Tokhu Emong).

The chairperson also introduced new members to the board namely DSCO, James Lotha; DCO Culture, C. Yantsow Lotha; Assistant District Commandant Home Guard, Lichemse Sangtam and SDEO Wokha, Aremo Ezung.

During a review on grant-in-aid to Saron School and woodland School Wokha, the board recommended for approval.
The agenda on framing of LADF implementation committee, the house deliberated on the subject and approved the previous committee to continue for the next financial year.

SDEO Wokha put forward the proposal for recognition of Don Bosco School at Old Riphim village where the Board deliberated and accepted the proposal to be put forward to the higher authority for consideration.

Earlier, a reminder was made by the Bharat Scout and Guide Chief Wokha for contribution towards construction of its house at Nerhema headquarter approach road to civil hospital and side drains in the town which were also deliberated.

MOKOKCHUNG: DPDB meeting in Mokokchung was held in the DC’s conference hall on November 9 took up discussions on introduction of HAM (Amateur Radio), launching of solar light in the villages in the district through new and renewable energy department, urgent need to undertake repairing work on Mokokchung-Mariani border road and introduction of new trades in Industrial Training Institute, Mokokchung.

Moving the agenda for possible introduction of Amateur radio through a power point presentation, ER Temsuwati, DIO, NIC, Mokokchung said high technology amateur radio had helped people immensely around the world particularly during disaster such as earthquake, cyclone, floods etc.

He said that the entire North-East being situated under Seismic zone -5, the introduction of amateur radio would of immense help during occurrence of major earthquake.

Deputy Commissioner, Murohu Chotso, who presided over the meeting informed the house that the Department of New and Renewable Energy, Government of Nagaland will soon launch solar light in the villages and said it would be very beneficial to the villagers.

He said officials from the department met him in this connection and informed the members that he had directed ADC Mokokchung to issue necessary circular to all villages to submit application. He also said that any village willing to install the solar light was required to meet cost of the solar light.

Considering the deplorable condition of Mokokchung-Mariani border road, the house decided to urge the CO, Border Road Organization, Mon (HQ) to expedite the road repairing work.

The meeting also deliberated on introduction of new trades at industrial training institute, Mokokchung such as cane and bamboo work, fruit and vegetable processing course, driving and mechanics, building work etc.

DC informed members that the next DPDB meeting will be held outdoor at Dikhu near Salulemang village on 7th December 2012. The meeting winded up by presentation of power point by project officer, Mokokchung, land resource development, Nilhukotuo Kuotso.

Longleng: District Planning and Development Board Meeting (DPDB) Longleng held its monthly meeting on November 6 at the conference hall, DC office, Longleng.The meeting was presided over K. Libanthung Lotha DPDB vice- chairman and deputy commissioner Longleng.

The meeting commenced with 2 minutes of silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul of late Mongtho STO who died on October 29 followed by self introduction of new members.

Reviewing the last meeting minutes, the chairman informed the house on setting up SBI branch at Tamlu, and discussed on financial assistance towards district scouts and guides and appealed HoDs to contribute towards constructing district para scouts and guides house at Nerherma scout centre.

In view of the upcoming NBCC triennial convention to be held at Longleng town and also the festivals, the meeting also reviewed on providing street lights in Longleng town,

The board also constitutes on implementing committee for LADP 2012-13 for 49 and 50 constituencies as under: 49 AC - ADC Tamlu as convener, EE PHED, DHO Longelng, BDO Tamlu as members. 50 AC - ADC head quarter as convener and DAO Longleng, EE PWD, BDO Longleng as members.

The next DPDB meeting cum picnic will be held at Yangching village since S. Pangnyu Phom parliamentary secretary for RD & REPA and chairman DPDB Longleng has consented to host meeting.

T. Wati Aier ADC also spoke at the occasion.The chairman also expressed his appreciation to all members present at the meeting.
