Reacting to government’s recent notification that declared names for roads and institutions in the state, Chakhro Angami Kuda Union (CAKU) has pointed out that the stretch of road from Deluxe Point to Old Dhansiri Bridge in Dimapur, which was recently named as Rhanlamo Lotha Road, covered the already declared Chalie Kevichusa Road i.e. from NST Bus Station to Dhansiri river.

In a representation to the secretary, home department (general administration), CAKU president K. Medom and general secretary Zhasa Vupru, while appreciating the initiatives by the government, stated that the government, by an earlier order bearing No.DEV/1/87-D/ dated Dimapur February 25, 1993, had already declared the present road starting from NST Bus station to the present Dhansiri river as Chalie Kevichusa Road.

Further, CAKU pointed out that the declaration was made pursuant to the proposal and recommendation of the chairman of the civic body to name the road starting from NST Bus Station to Old Dhansiri Bridge as Chalie Kevichusa Road in his memory on September 24, 1992. They said late Chalie Kevichusa was a veteran politician, a prominent public leader and a bona fide member of the union.

Therefore, the signatories said after deliberating on the issue at the union’s general meeting held November 17, 2012, they unanimously decided to urge upon the responsible authority to restore the earlier order dated February 25, 1993.

Requesting the authority to empathize with the sentiment and humble aspiration of its people, CAKU urged the responsible authority to rectify the said publication by restoring and upholding the name of the road as Chalie Kevichusa Road as declared by earlier order.
