Marwari community donate eye

The family members of Anandi Devi Agarwala (87 years) from the Marwari community who passed away on November 21 morning decided to donate her eyes to the eye donation centre set-up at District Hospital Dimapur on November 21.

On completion of all legal cordial formalities, the eye specialist from District Hospital Eye Donation Centre, Dr. Asonla Chang with her team members collected the cornea in the presence of chief medical officer (CMO) Dimapur and his colleagues, family members and Rotary Club Dimapur.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. Sukato Sema said more than 50 volunteers from the district have registered and pledged to donate their eyes to help those in need.
He also appealed to the public to come forward and register as a donor and urged the visually impaired to come and register to avail the opportunity for cornea transplantation.

Dr. Sukato also thanked the family members of late Anandi Devi Agarwala for their kind gesture and Rotary Club Dimapur for their initiative in helping those in need.
