Muslim Council, Dimapur forms units to settle disputes

Muslim Council, Dimapur (MCD) Monday informed that it has formed units to settle disputes among community members to control crimes by Muslims in their respective areas. MCD has already formed eight units in Dimapur and Chumukdiema.

According to a MCD press statement, a general meeting of the council members held on November 17 at the ‘Unity Hall’ of the Naga Council, amended MCD constitution incorporating the formation of different units - each having an arbitration board.

Each unit would send members and representatives to MCD. MCD youth wing was also reorganized with Rashid Ahmed and Naim Uddin as president and general secretary respectively.

The arbitration board (panchayat) has also been reformed with Mortuza Hussain Tapadar as the convenor, said the statement adding each unit convenor of arbitration board would be the member of MCD arbitration board.

MCD said Haj & Religious Affairs Sub-committee has also been formed to take care of Haj pilgrims besides looking after religious affairs of Muslims.

MCD meeting decided that the work of the proposed educational institution should start at the earliest at the school site, Walford. MCD advisors & community elders, Riaz Khan, Dr. M.Z. Ahmed, A. Hadi Tapadar and others spoke on the occasion and advised MCD to take bold steps in strengthening the council, the statement said.

Advocate, Sharif Ahmed who attended the meeting as the special guest advised the council on various issues of the community. Moulana, Elias Ahmed performed the ‘dua’ and sought Allah’s blessing for the council.
