Introduce schemes for youth, women in planning process: DC Wokha

DC Wokha Vyasan R on Tuesday said  Nagaland despite being one of the leading states in decentralization planning/process has failed to progress and develop.

He therefore urged village functionaries to introduce schemes for the youth and women in their planning process.
DC was speaking at the four-day training on capacity building for the leaders of village councils of Nagaland on decentralization planning and youth development that got underway at DC Conference Hall, Wokha.

He also encouraged the village functionaries to implement proper planning and utilize funds judiciously.
Resource persons include, Dr. K. Gireesan, FH,Priya, RGNIYD, Nokcha Sashi SDO (Sadar) Wokha, CI Meren PO, DRDA, Wokha, Libemo Jami, YRO, Wokha and Phyobemo Lotha, President Integrated Youth Resources Express, Wokha.

On the first day, resources persons highlighted on the topics, ‘Overview and salient features of 73rd Constitution amendment act and village council act, youth participation in local governance, Grama Sabha and other participatory structures at the local level-how to enhance youth participation, analysis of planning and implementation of projects in the village, resources mapping and participatory planning for the village and major programmes for rural development- an overview.

Topics like skill development programmes for youth, innovative projects for youth development, youth status: needs, concerns, issues, problems and priorities of youth in the area, discussion on state youth policy and role of village council would be covered on the next three days.

The programme is being jointly organised by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, an institute of national importance by an act of parliament, ministry of youth affairs & sports, government of India Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu and Wokha district administration in collaboration with district youth resource office and integrated youth resources express, Wokha.
