IOC conducts workshop on sealing mechanism

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Ltd. Tinsukia integrated divisional office organized a day-long workshop on dispensing unit sealing mechanism at retail outlets for officials of legal metrology department on Friday at  Home Mart, conference hall, Dimapur.

At the workshop, resource person U.D. Gogoi, manager retail sales Northeast Integrated State Office (NEISO) highlighted on the power and authority that have been vested on the legal metrology department in protecting the right of costumers.

Gogoi in his one-hour power presentation and live demonstration, presented a detailed information and the ways to detect malpractices in metering and dispensing units at gas filling stations.

He reminded the officials to report to the officials in case of any malpractices found in the dispensing unit while checking and conducting sealing of the machine at gas filing stations.

Commissioner and secretary food and civil supplies and legal metrology, K.T. Sukhalu, IAS who also attended the workshop, urged his officers to take responsibility and be sincere to ensure that sealing is carried out properly.

He said that by carrying out the sealing properly, the officers would be rendering “good service” to the people.
With regard to the practice of adulteration of fuel in the state, he urged the officers to conduct checking and ensured that it must be brought to the notice of the government.

Earlier, general manager NEISO, Priyobash Dey said the main aim of the workshop was to protect the customers rights and to clear certain doubts with regard to sealing the available machines at gas filling depots.

He said the Indian Oil Corporation was planning to modernize the depot and increase the storage capacity in the state.
Officials from gilbarco, MIDLO Tokhiem original equipment manufacturers also presented a demonstration on the new machines to be replaced at the gas filing station.  S. Chakraborty divisional retail sales manager Tinsukia integrated divisional office chaired the workshop.
