Unidentified miscreants early Saturday morning set fire to shed no 1 & 2 of the ‘United plastic products’ located at industrial estate, old complex, Dimapur resulting in the loss of good worth “lakhs of reupees”. However, there were no reports of any casualty.

According to Dimapur West police station, unidentified youth in the wee hours Saturday set fire at industrial estate resulting in loss of materials worth lakhs of rupees.
A First Information Report (FIR) has also been filed by the proprietor of ‘United plastic products’. According to the FIR, the unidentified youth poured “petrol/kerosene” on the boundary wall of the plastic products unit and set the unit on fire around 1:40 a.m.

The proprietor of the unit also claimed that one gallon containing petrol was found lying on the spot. The fire brigade was then informed after which the fire was doused with the help of colony residents.

Meanwhile, the Industrial Estate Tenant Association (IETA) has also submitted a representation to the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) managing director informing him about the fire that destroyed the two sheds. IETA secretary also reminded that the tenants in the industrial estate have been “threatened by ex-underground khellers” who had warned them to “vacate the land” or they would burn down the units.

Stating that they had also demanded security many a times, IETA alleged that no serious steps had been taken by NIDC which has led to Saturday’s incident. IETA has urged NIDC to take the matter seriously and provide security besides demanding the arrest of the culprits at the earliest.
