It was a thrilling experience for hundreds of visitors to Hornbill festival Wednesday at Kisama heritage village when over 240 roaring motorcycles entered the village as part of the 1st North East Friendship Rally and thronged near the World War II museum complex at the festival site for the 4th North East Riders’ Meet (NERM).

The thundering sound that boomed at the festival venue where the motorcyclists congregated was an apt tribute to the 4th NERM with the theme “when we meet, we grow”.

NERM is an annual meet of Royal Enfield Riders of North East India and this year, it was hosted by Nagaland Motorcycle Club at Kisama as part of the ongoing Hornbill festival.

The riders kicked off from Argi-Expo site at Dimapur early Wednesday morning before converging at Kisama covering over 70 kilometres along the national highway 29.

Commissioner secretary tourism Himato Zhimomi and press secretary to chief minister Abu Metha welcomed the bikers from Northeastern states along with other participants from West Bengal, Pune and Delhi who joined the rally in large numbers.

Zhimomi in his brief address congratulated the bikers for their on-the-road élan and the spirit. He urged the motorcycle enthusiasts present to jointly make the rally an annual event and invited them to bring more friends and female bikers in the next edition of the Hornbill festival.
