Close on the heels of Monday’s factional killing when two GPRN/NSCN activists were shot dead by NSCN (K) cadres, an unidentified armed miscreant shot and injured the Railway Health Inspector identified as Utpal Bhowmik (52) here Tuesday around 7.30 a.m. at foot over bridge near Railway Bazaar.

In his statement to Officer in-charge Railway Protection Force (RPF) Rokonicha, Utpal said he was stopped by an unidentified local youth (aged around 25-30) while on his way to his office after sanitary inspection in and around railway station.

He said the armed miscreant, wearing a white jacket and whose mouth covered with a surgical mask, stopped him and snatched away four gold rings and also demanded his mobile and wallet.
