The Counterfeit Beatles performing at Niathu resort on Friday. (NP)
For all those Beatles fans, nothing could have been better than the live on- stage tribute to the Beatles by the Fab 444 held at Niathu resort on Friday. The live performance conducted in aid of Nam’s orphanage, Sovima village, was however a bit disappointing with low turn out; one of the reasons being the ongoing FIFA World Cup. But nonetheless, the band did not disappoint the gathering with the song cover from the hit albums of Beatle. From ‘Can’t buy me love’ and ‘Love, love me do’ to the rock and roll numbers, the band simply grabbed the attention of all those present there. The Fab 444 also known as the Counterfeit Beatles comprises of Peter Bailey as Paul McCartney, Gordon Elsmore as Ringo Starr, Reuven Gershon as Jhon Lennon and Martin Savill as George Harrison. The band which is on a whirlwind three days tour of Northeast, will head to Shillong and then culminate their tour at Guwahati on July 4. For the popular UK band, this visit will be the second Indian tour in less than six months. The maiden India tour, with successful performance in Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin and Goa, took place in February this year. This time, the group’s NE tour is being jointly managed by Kingsberg and NEEMA, a Guwahati-based event management group. The Counterfeit Beatles, with international acts in Japan and Greece among others, was formed in 1995. Having staged their shows at leading venues in the UK and other countries, the group has made its way as one of the top Beatles tribute bands. (Staff Reporter)
