The 6th Nagaland State “A” Chess championship 2010 started Tuesday at Red Cross building, Kohima with top 20 players, vying for the coveted title. Earlier, the championship was formally inaugurated by Pusazo Luruo, vice president NPF. He lauded the NCA for producing a good number of chess players and felt proud that the state has 12 elo rated players so far, which, he said, was a prestige for the state. The tournament is being organized by Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) and will conclude July 31. NCA general secretary and chief Arbiter Lhokiye Yepthomi informed that the 4 top players will represent Nagaland State to National Chess Challenge cup 2010, scheduled from September 14 to 26 at Haryana. The first prize winner will get Rs.10,000, second prize winner-Rs.7000, 3rd prize winner- Rs.5000 and 4th prize -3,000. On Wednesday the third and fourth round will place starting from 9 am.
