Drawing the attention of the state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio to the July 22 incident where unidentified gunmen, without any rhyme or reason fired shots and “critically injured” Er. J G Lorin (scientist D), District Informatics Officer (NIC) Kohima and his nephew Tenyenlo Kemp, a class XI student of Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima, the Rengma Hoho has urged the CM’s office to immediately intervene and nab the culprits involved in the “inhuman act”.
Rengma Hoho in a memorandum issued by its president, Kegwanye Lorin and general secretary, Zukeya Woch said that the two victims were innocent and peace loving citizens who were desperately made to battle for their life without any fault of their own.
The Rengma Hoho in this regard demanded immediate action: to constitute an Investigation Team headed by a Police Officer not below the rank of a DSP to probe into the details of the incident which should be carried out without any complacency; to nab and award exemplary punishment to the persons involved within 30 days of submission of the memorandum and to ensure the best medical care and treatment to the victims who have been inflicted with life-threatening injuries.
The Hoho further warned that in the event of failure on the part of the authority to meet these demands within stipulated time, it would be compelled to resort to its own course of action as deemed fit for the security and peaceful co-existence of its members. In the event of any consequences arising out of the matter the Hoho should not be held responsinle, the tatement added.
