62nd I-Day to be celebrated in grandeur

DIMAPUR: To celebrate the forthcoming 62nd Indian Independence Day, DC Dimapur Maongwati Aier convened a meeting with district heads of offices and NGOs under Dimapur on July 25 at his conference hall to chalk out Independence day programme. Various departments have been entrusted responsibility for the celebration which is to be held at DDSC Stadium.
Main highlights of the programme would include parade review, march past by various contingents of both uniform and non-uniform, exhibition of stalls put up by different departments, entertainment by various cultural troupes, football exhibition match between Dimapur Municipal Council and Dimapur Press Club, distribution of food items and other materials by various NGOs, demonstration of search and rescue operations during disaster by Home Guards personnel and free cinema shows at different cinema halls.
DC said in order to create public awareness on cleanliness, chief minister has directed to select three best wards among the twenty one wards under DMC for maintaining their colonies and wards clean and tidily. In this regard, a committee has been set up to select the best three to be awarded during this year's Independence Day Celebration.
DC has directed that practice for March Past would commence from August 7 and all department have been informed to complete their assignments by August 13.
Meanwhile the DC has also requested all the public to attend the function and enjoy various highlights of the programme.
