In a major development, a joint council meeting of the Steering Committee and Council of Kilonsers, NSCN (I-M), has banned the Sumi Hoho and Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) under the present leadership for alleged “misleading and dictating the Sumis in general to support the self-style unification group, which in reality merged with the Khaplang.”
The joint council meeting charged both Sumi Hoho and WSH for misleading the “innocent national workers” who defected from the NSCN (I-M) with arms, by blatantly misinterpreting the proclamation of the Yaruiwo (NSCN-IM chairman Isak Chishi Swu) on reconciliation based on national principle.
The MIP/NSCN (I-M) in a press release stated that on November 27, 2007, the Sumi Hoho and WSH in a meeting held at Niuland, went to the extreme to support former NSCN (IM) kilo kilonser Azheto’s initiated unification and to excommunicate all Sumi National Workers who did not toe the line of SH and WSH by supporting the unification.
The same stand was taken in subsequent meetings of the Sumis under the aegis of “these tainted organizations”, and approved three times on December 11, 2007, January 15, 2008 and April 14 2008, the NSCN (I-M) said, while adding that on May 7, 2008, the unification group merged with the NSCN (K).
NSCN (I-M) also alleged that the present SH/WSH leadership went a step further by passing a resolution that the Sumis would contribute only to one group of National Workers and that no contribution in any form would be extended to any faction that did not cooperate with Naga’s unification.
“Choosing to go for a head on confrontation with NSCN, the SH/WSH leaders took the stand on the principle of ‘unification first and then solutions’, which is a total contrast to the NSCN’s principle,” NSCN (I-M) said. The NSCN (I-M) also claimed that in order to push forward the implementation of the resolution, the Sumi Hoho in its executive meeting held on July 19 at Zunheboto, entrusted the work to the Core Committee.
“When these Sumi apex organizations over played their role and deliberately choosing to go for collision course with NSCN by misinterpreting every good meaning of unification as per the proclamation of the Yaruiwo on reconciliation based on national principles, there was left with no option but to ban SH and WSH with immediate effect,” the NSCN (I-M) added.
It further cautioned that no civil societies should consider themselves greater than the “national freedom organization,” which had carried the “national burden for more then 50 years.”
