Having learnt his being expelled from the NPF party for six years for defying the party directive and voting in favour of the UPA government during the July 22 trust vote, from the local dailies, state Lok Sabha MP, W. Wangyuh Konyak has said that he “wholeheartedly accepted” the expulsion from the party.
Wangyuh in a faxed statement recounted that he was forcibly sent to the Parliament without his consent and that the party knew that he never approached any party leader or workers for the Lok Sabha ticket. He said it was clear that the party had not wanted him in state politics.
Quoting a letter written to him by the NPF president, Dr. Shurhozelie in May 2005, Wangyuh said he was asked to “extend issue based support to any group/party in the Parliament in the interest of the Nation and your state in consultation with the Party”.
Wangyuh, however pointed out that the NPF in his expulsion order still claimed to give issue based support to UPA government and wondered “how from whom and through whom they (NPF) will continue to give issue based support to UPA government”.
Wangyuh said he exercised his vote in tune with the letter which the NPF president wrote and admitted to have asked “Party’s MPs to give issue based support”.
Meanwhile, Wangyuh has thanked state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, cabinet colleagues, parliamentary secretaries, MLAs, Dr. Shurhozelie, NPF central officer bearers, NPF women wing and youth wing, NPF divisional presidents and office bearers, State BJP president and his office bearers, other NPF led DAN partners and the people of Nagaland who voted in creating a record margin of 4, 52, 019 votes victory. He also thanked Doctors, Engineers, Reverend and public who comforted him telephonically “during this crisis period”.
He sought forgiveness from the people of Nagaland particularly the future generation if he had done any mistake. He also prayed that God may bless NPF and BJP leaders to serve Naga people in the days to come.
